Open door policy

We have an open door policy and you and your extended family are welcome to visit the kindergarten at any time.

Signing in and out

When you arrive at kindy, make sure you initial the roll next to your child’s name, and indicate who will be picking them up at the end of the session. At pickup time, initial the roll again.

Please check your pockets daily for newsletters etc. The notice board by the door provides important information, so please take time to read it.

What to bring to Kindergarten:

Your child needs to bring:

Donations

We ask that you contribute towards the running costs of the kindergarten. A donation envelope is put in your child’s “pocket” and you can place your donation in the red letter box beside the signing in book. You can pay via internet banking or set up a direct debit payment if you prefer. Just pick up a copy of our bank account number from the office and use your child’s name as the reference.

It is important to mention that our “20 hours free” Government subsidy is only met if we pay our portion. Therefore, if only 70% of families pay their donation, we only receive 70% of what is due to us from the Government coffers. If your family is suffering hardship we are more than happy to take that into consideration and confidentially allow a dispensation. Otherwise, please pay your donation as requested.

Attendance

The Ministry of Education requires parents to sign the roll every month and have set attendance requirements as part of the funding formula. Children need to have a regular attendance and any patterns of absence (eg absent every Monday) put our funding in jeopardy.

We are required to contact you if your child has been absent for more than 9 days - this includes weekends and Fridays where there are no afternoon sessions. If your child is ill or going on holiday we would appreciate a note from you.

If your child is away for more than 3 weeks continuously, due to holiday, illness, family reasons etc, we are unable to keep them our roll but will put them back on the roll as soon as possible.

Portfolio folders and artworks

Each child has a file that will become a record of their time at kindergarten. Please feel free to look at them. We ask you to pay $2 for a clear file—Thank you.

Your child’s art will be stored under their name in the file box on the cubby holes by the toilets. Check it when convenient to take their masterpieces home!

How you can help

We rely on parents to participate in the running of the kindergarten. If you are interested in joining our committee, we would love to give you more information.

We encourage our parents to put their name on the parent help roster. This is always appreciated and gives you the opportunity to share in your child’s kindergarten day.   If you have any skills that you can share, we would love to hear about them.
